First, I have to say Voyager is my favorite Star Trek series and Janeway is my favorite captain which is why I feel so strongly about this. I have to completey disagree with @therexbellator and say that Robert Ducan McNeil was probably too spineless to go further because he was out numbered so McNeil probably didn't want to say what was really on his mind; the truth. Tuvok and Neelix were killed in a transporter accident: no premeditated decision. Accidental death. The damage was done: the accident was done. And, it was no one's fault. Maybe the deaths were just a coincidence, accident, fate or God's plan. Tuvok and Neelix were not both alive in Tuvix. Tuvix did not have multiple personality disorder. Tuvix's mind was a fully complete and distinct individual. The Doctor's decision to "do no damage" was the correct decision. When Janeway swooped in, Janeway was faced with a living, breathing, fully sentient, and brilliant being that was Tuvix. What Janeway did was not an execution (Because executions are defined as a punishment for a wrong doing). Instead, what Janeway did was premeditated murder. Just as in ancient times with human sacrifices, Janeway committed premeditated murder to resurrect two dead crew members. Janeway decided to change a coincidence, an accident, fate, or God's plan with violence. So to be clear Tuvok and Neelix died accidentally. In contrast, Tuvix was killed with premeditated murder. I am also greatly offended by what Tim Russ, admittedly, has been saying! (or ansering his fans with!) Why in the world, would Tuvix need another romantic partner with Telaxian, Vulcan, and plant DNA for Children? Neelix, at that time, did not have another Telaxian! Kes did not have another Ocompa! Belana Torres did not have another half Klingon half human! Vorik did not need another Vulcan! Spock's dad did not need another Vulcan! Spock did not need another half human half Vulcan! Tuvix was so brilliant and loving. But more importantly, Tuvix had an enormous desire to bond with individuals and contribute to his community. So there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Tuvix would have fully loved a mix race child of his own. And YES! Ethan Phillips accidents do have the right to live?! WTF though?! Really?!

This interview with Lawrence is so lovely and so necessary. With the deaths of James Sikking (Captain Stiles, ST 3) and David Loughery (screenwriter, ST 5) this week, any extended histories by cast members are very, very welcome. The information at 35:18 is especially interesting to me.

Star Trek was a hit because of a few things..it was light years ahead of it's time, the actors were fantastical, it foresaw certain things like the fax and mobile phone, the biggest question of what is out there, and what maybe possible for us in the future! !!!!

he changed the life of so many people. His work on directing a couple of classic Trek film shaped the next generation. His depiction of Spock was the model role for all of us who felt, we would like to understand our fellows, but we are not quite there. Something is different. A visionary, poet, actor of the first rank.

I really enjoyed the interview. Although Star Trek 5, did have it’s issues. I did think he did a great job as Sybok. The fact that he based Sybok on Lenin, makes sense. When I saw the character. He reminded me of “Dr. X”, from the Queenrÿche video / album “Operation Mindcrime”. Who was based off Lenin.

I remember watching Star Trek The Motion Picture when it came out on tv, after halfway through I go same ole stupid Star Trek, and remember thinking the 60s tv series was better. So when Star Trek II came out in 82, I dont even remember it being advertised on tv for the big screen so I didn't see it in the theater. But when renting movies started to be the next big thing in early 80s I remember seeing a poster of Star Trek II at the rental store and decided to watch it. I remember as I started watching movie, I go what is this, this is more stupid then the Motion Picture, then it started showing that it was just a reenactment of a final battle scene on ship, so ok I kept watching and soon after the first acted, I go wow this is getting good, then I see Khan and remember thinking this is really a good movie, and when over I go WOW that was the best Star Trek I ever seen, I lost count how many times I watched that movie since. Then after that movie I kept eye out for next Star Trek at the theater and seen them all at the big screen, some 3 times in a row, until Undiscovered Country, every Star Trek after that has been garbage.....

I love this podcast! I love all of the Star Trek family. My dad just died December 13th from stomach cancer probably caused by asbestos ingestion up here in Canada. There was a immunotherapy that was only available to a select few. My Dad tried chemo Dad made him terribly sick and it ruined the last days of his life he hung on. He was stubborn but 6 months after being diagnosed, he died in hospice. I wish the immunotherapy that had such good results with stomach and bowel cancer could have been more widely available

I don’t know… The whole article felt like a fluff piece that was transitioning into a sales letter for the current stewards to find their next job… I didn’t find it positive at all actually because they didn’t really tell us anything terribly new. We learned that the show no one wants, starfleet’s academy will have the biggest set ever. We learned that another set for another show as water under the floor… These are all on interesting when the stories seem to be the biggest casualties for this era. So, I found this article to be nothing but a fluff piece to distract from the other article in variety that reported Paramount’s stock value had been downgraded to junk. If you want to know everything about Star Trek, that’s the article to pay attention to. Also, very interesting that Terry Petalas was not only omitted from this article, but they didn’t even mention the awards that season three of Picard had one just two months ago… This article seemed like it was reminding everyone who is in charge of the IP and that they are available for work. Should Paramount go under.
